O Ludovice Ensemble é um grupo especializado na interpretação de Música Antiga, sediado em Lisboa, e criado em 2004 por Fernando Miguel Jalôto e Joana Amorim, com o objectivo de divulgar o repertório de câmara vocal e instrumental dos séculos XVII e XVIII, através de interpretações historicamente informadas e usando instrumentos antigos. O nome do grupo homenageia o arquitecto e ourives alemão Johann Friedrich Ludwig (1673-1752) conhecido em Portugal como Ludovice. O grupo trabalha regularmente com os melhores intérpretes portugueses especializados, e também como prestigiados artistas estrangeiros. OLudovice Ensemble apresentou-se em Portugal nos principais festivais nacionais (Cistermúsica, Sintra, Estoril-Lisboa, Marvão, Música Religiosa de Guimarães, Around Classic de Lisboa, e festivais de órgão da Madeira, Santarém, Algarve, Mafra, Trofa-Santo Tirso e FIOMS/Porto, entre vários outros) e é uma presença regular nas duas principais salas de Lisboa: o CCB e a Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian. Apresentou-se no estrangeiro nos mais prestigiantes festivais de música antiga, na Bélgica (Bruges, Antuérpia); Países Baixos (Utrecht); França (La Chaise-Dieu, Bordéus); República Checa (Praga); Israel (Telavive, Jerusalém); Irlanda (Dublin); Estónia (Tallinn); e Espanha (Quincena Musical de San Sebastián, Santander, Bilbau, Madrid, Sevilha, Sória, Casalareina, Aranjuez, El Escorial, Vitoria-Gasteiz, Lugo, Badajoz, Jaca, Daroca, Peñíscola, e Pirenéus Catalães). Gravou ao vivo para a RDP-Antena 2, a Rádio Nacional Checa (ČRo) e a Rádio Nacional da Estónia, bem como para o canal de televisão francês MEZZO. É mebro do REMA — Réseau Européen de Musique Ancienne (com sede em Versalhes, e apoio da Europa Criativa/Parlamento Europeu).

O seu primeiro CD, para a editora Franco-Belga Ramée/Outhere foi nomeado em 2013 para os prestigiados prémios ICMA na categoria de Barroco Vocal e eleito pela revista Diapason uma das 10 melhores gravações de cantatas francesas barrocas. Em 2020 lançou um álbum duplo com 6 sonatas inéditas de C. H. e J. G. Graun para flauta e cravo obrigado, pela editora inglesa Veterum Musica, e em 2023 outro duplo CD com obras de câmara dos compositores Pedro Jorge e Pedro António Avondano, para o MPMP. Do seu trabalho destacam-se: Vésperas de Nossa Senhora de 1610 de Monteverdi; Idylle sur la paix de Racine/Lully; Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme de Moliére/Lully; Les Arts Florissants de Charpentier; Cain ovvero il primo omicidio de Scarlatti; Timão de Atenas de Shakespeare/Purcell, em colaboração com o Teatro Praga; La liberazione di Ruggiero dall'isola d'Alcina de Francesca Caccini, em colaboração com o Huelgas Ensemble. Realiza a Academia Ludovice, um inovador festival e curso de Verão dedicado às práticas históricas interpretativas da música, dança e teatro barrocos. Para 2026 tem programados concertos em Lisboa (Congresso Internacional «Mozart e o seu tempo» no Palácio da Ajuda); no FIOMS (Maia) com um programa de música alemã seiscentista; e em Seia, no Festival de Música Antiga da Serra da Estrela, com o seu programa «À l'espagnole», pela primeira vez em Portugal depois de 12 apresentações em Espanha; regressa ao Festival de Órgão da Trofa e Santo Tirso (FIO), desta vez com o seu programa de música dos cancioneiros portugueses do século XVI; e ao Festival de Música Religiosa de Guimarães, com um programa dedicado à obra de Schütz incluindo as famosas Musikalische Exequien, Op. 7. Aborda a monumental «Missa em Si menor» de Bach numa co-produção com o Cistermúsica e a Paróquia de Nossa Senhora da Oliveira de Guimarães. Para 2027 estão agendados concertos nos prestigiantes festivais de Música Antiga de Malta (Valletta) e Semana de Música Religiosa de Cuenca (Espanha), e no CCB.

The Ludovice Ensemble is a group specialized in the performance of Early Music, based in Lisbon, and created in 2004 by Fernando Miguel Jalôto and Joana Amorim, with the aim of disseminating the vocal and instrumental chamber repertoire of the 17th and 18th centuries, through historically informed interpretations and using original instruments. The group's name pays homage to the German architect and goldsmith Johann Friedrich Ludwig (1673-1752), known in Portugal as Ludovice. The group regularly works with the best specialized Portuguese performers, as well as prestigious foreign artists. The Ludovice Ensemble has performed in Portugal at major national festivals (Cistermúsica, Sintra, Estoril-Lisbon, Marvão, Guimarães Religious Music Festival, Around Classic in Lisbon, and organ festivals in Madeira, Santarém, Algarve, Mafra, Trofa-Santo Tirso and FIOMS/Porto, among many others) and is a regular presence in Lisbon's two main concert halls: the CCB and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. Internationally, it has performed at the most prestigious Early Music festivals in Belgium (Bruges, Antwerp); the Netherlands (Utrecht); France (La Chaise-Dieu, Bordeaux); the Czech Republic (Prague); Israel (Tel Aviv, Jerusalem); Ireland (Dublin); and Estonia (Tallinn). and Spain (Musical Quinceañera of San Sebastián, Santander, Bilbao, Madrid, Seville, Soria, Casalareina, Aranjuez, El Escorial, Vitoria-Gasteiz, Lugo, Badajoz, Jaca, Daroca, Peñíscola, and the Catalan Pyrenees). They recorded live for RDP-Antena 2, Czech National Radio (ČRo), and Estonian National Radio, as well as for the French television channel MEZZO, and are a member of REMA — Réseau Européen de Musique Ancienne (based in Versailles, and supported by Creative Europe/European Parliament).

Their first CD, released by the Franco-Belgian label Ramée/Outhere, was nominated in 2013 for the prestigious ICMA awards in the Baroque Vocal category and chosen by Diapason magazine as one of the 10 best recordings of French Baroque cantatas. In 2020 they released a double album with 6 previously unknown sonatas by C. H. and J. G. Graun for flute and harpsichord, through the English label Veterum Musica, and in 2023 another double CD with chamber works by composers Pedro Jorge and Pedro António Avondano, for MPMP. Important past projects include: Monteverdi's Vespers of Our Lady of 1610; Racine/Lully's Idylle sur la paix; Molière/Lully's Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme; Charpentier's Les Arts Florissants; Scarlatti's Cain ovvero il primo omicidio; Shakespeare/Purcell's Timon of Athens, in collaboration with Teatro Praga; and Francesca Caccini's La liberazione di Ruggiero dall'isola d'Alcina, in collaboration with the Huelgas Ensemble. The Ludovice Ensemble organizes an innovative festival and summer course dedicated to the historical interpretative practices of Baroque music, dance, and theatre. For 2026 they will be present in Lisbon (International Congress "Mozart and his time" at the Ajuda Palace); at FIOMS (Maia) with a program of 17th-century German music; in Seia, at the Serra da Estrela Early Music Festival, with its program "À l'espagnole," for the first time in Portugal after 12 performances in Spain; it returns to the Trofa and Santo Tirso Organ Festival (FIO), this time with its program of music from the 16th-century Portuguese songbooks; and to the Guimarães Religious Music Festival, with a program dedicated to the work of Schütz including the famous Musikalische Exequien, Op. 7. It tackles Bach's monumental "Mass in B minor" in co-production with Cistermúsica and the Parish of Nossa Senhora da Oliveira de Guimarães. Concerts are already scheduled for 2027: at the prestigious Early Music Festival in Malta (Valletta) and the Week of Religious Music in Cuenca (Spain), as well as at the CCB (Centro Cultural de Belém).
