O Ludovice Ensemble é um grupo especializado na interpretação de Música Antiga, sediado em Lisboa, e criado em 2004 por Fernando Miguel Jalôto e Joana Amorim, com o objectivo de divulgar o repertório de câmara vocal e instrumental dos séculos XVII e XVIII através de interpretações historicamente informadas e usando instrumentos antigos. O nome do grupo homenageia o arquitecto e ourives alemão Johann Friedrich Ludwig (1673-1752) conhecido em Portugal como Ludovice. O grupo trabalha regularmente com os melhores intérpretes portugueses especializados, e também como prestigiados artistas estrangeiros.

O Ludovice Ensemble apresentou-se em Portugal nos principais festivais nacionais - nomeadamente o Cistermúsica de Alcobaça, o Terras sem Sombra no Baixo Alentejo, os Festivais de Outono de Aveiro, o Festival In Spiritum e o Ciclo de Música de Câmara do Palácio da Bolsa no Porto, o Festival Internacional de Música Religiosa de Guimarães, o Festival Internacional de Polifonia Portuguesa em Braga e Famalicão, o Música em S. Roque de Lisboa, os Encontros de Música Antiga de Loulé, o Festival de Órgão da Madeira, o Festival de Marvão, o Festival de Leiria, e o Ciclo Sons de Almada Velha - mas também em Viana do Castelo, Gaia, Óbidos, Castelo Branco, Évora, Almodôvar, Lagos ou Tavira. É uma presença regular nas duas principais salas de Lisboa: o CCB e a Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian e foi o grupo escolhido para representar Portugal no encontro do Réseau Européen de Musique Ancienne / REMA em 2011, na Casa da Música.

O Ludovice Ensemble apresentou-se no estrangeiro no festival Laus Polyphoniae (AMUZ, Antuérpia) e no MAfestival Brugge, na Bélgica; no festival Oude Muziek de Utrecht (Países Baixos); nos festivais de La Chaise-Dieu, Musiques en Vivarais-Lignon, e Festes Baroques de Bordéus (França); no festival de Música Barroca de Praga (República Checa); no Festival Felicja Blumental de Tel-Aviv e na Universidade Mórmon de Jerusalém (Israel); nos festivais Camiños de Santiago de Jaca, nos festivais de música antiga de Sevilha, Aranjuez, Sória, Daroca, Peñíscola, Casalareina, na Quincena Musical de San Sebastian, no Festival de Santander, no Bilbao Arte Sacro, no Ciclo de las Artes de Lugo, no Febrero Lirico do Real Coliseo Carlos III de San Lorenzo del Escorial, na Semana de Musica Antigua de Vitoria-Gasteiz e no Festival Ibérico de Badajoz (Espanha). Apresentou-se ainda em concertos em Dublin (Irlanda) a convite da Embaixada Portuguesa, e na Estónia, na Filarmonia de Tallin. Gravou ao vivo para a RDP-Antena 2, a Rádio Nacional Checa (ČRo), a Rádio Nacional da Estónia, bem como para o canal de televisão francês MEZZO. O seu primeiro CD, para a editora Franco-Belga Ramée/Outhere foi nomeado em 2013 para os prestigiados prémios ICMA na categoria de Barroco Vocal. Em 2020 lançou um álbum duplo com obras dos irmãos Graun para flauta e cravo obrigado, pela editora inglesa Veterum Musica, e em 2023 outro duplo CD dedicado à música de câmara dos Avondanos, para o MPMP.

O Ludovice Ensemble comemorou os seus 10 anos com um concerto no CCB, onde apresentou ainda uma ópera de F. Caccini em colaboração com o grupo belga Huelgas Ensemble/Paul Van Nevel e dois concertos dirigidos pelo famoso violinista italiano Enrico Onofri. Do seu trabalho mais recente destacam-se a apresentação no CCB de Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme de Moliére/Lully, das monumentais Vésperas de Nossa Senhora de 1610 de Monteverdi, da oratória Cain ovvero il primo omicidio de Scarlatti, e da semiópera Timon of Athens de Purcell, numa produção do mediático Teatro Praga. Ao Grande Auditório da Fundação Gulbenkian levou as óperas Idylle sur la paix de Lully e Les Arts Florissants de Charpentier e um original programa de música barroca judia-sefardita. 

Recentemente levou a sua versão das 4 Estações de Vivaldi ao Coliseu do Porto e ao CCB. Em 2024 torna a Espanha para mais concertos em Madrid e Pirenéus Catalães, estreia-se no Festival de Sintra, regressa ao Festival de Música Sacra de Guimarães e ao Festival de Órgão de Mafra, e apresenta vários outros concertos em Faro, Vila do Conde e Fátima. Desde 2021 realiza-se em Aveiro a Academia Ludovice, um inovador festival e curso de Verão dedicado às práticas históricas interpretativas da música, dança e teatro barrocos

Ludovice Ensemble is a Portuguese Early Music group, based in Lisbon. Fernando Miguel Jalôto and Joana Amorim created the ensemble in 2004 and it has since become a reference point in the Portuguese Early Music scene, being known for the high quality of its performances, the coherence of its artistic projects, and the novelty of its programs and proposals, which combine creativity, a passionate approach to the repertoire, and a historically informed interpretation. A very special attention is given to unknown repertoire, and the regular modern première of hidden Portuguese, French, German, English and Italian treasures is part of the ensemble's strategy. It's repertoire extends from large sacred works by Monteverdi, Scarlatti, Bach and Rameau and full operas by Caccini, Lully and Charpentier to small sacred works by Couperin, De Lalande, Locke, Purcell and Buxtehude; and includes a vast amount of Iberian and French chamber cantatas besides instrumental music, from Telemann and Bach concertos to Handel Sonatas, Hotteterre Suites and Avondano Trios. 

The group regularly invites some of the best Portuguese performers and often collaborates with foreign artists of exceptional quality - musicians but also actors and dancers. Ludovice Ensemble has performed at several important venues and international music festivals in Portugal, and is a regular guest in prestigious seasons like Gulbenkian Foundation and CCB - Lisbon's Cultural Centre. They also perform regularly in Spain (Early Music Festivals of Aranjuez, Seville, Catalan Pyrenees, Vitoria-Gasteiz, Daroca, Peñíscola, Jaca, Soria and Casalareina; Quincena Musical in San Sebastian, Arte Sacro in Bilbao, Santander Festival, San Lorenzo del Escorial's Real Coliseo Carlos III, Circulo de las Artes de Lugo and Festival Iberico de Badajoz); Belgium (AMUZ in Antwerp and MA Brugge Festivals); The Netherlands (Oude Muziek Festival in Utrecht); France (La Chaise-Dieu, Vivarais-Lignon, Festes Baroques); Czech Republic (Summer Festivities of Early Music in Prague) and Israel (Felicja Blumenthal Festival in Tel-Aviv, Haifa, and Jerusalem). Ludovice Ensemble performed for the REMA Showcase in 2011 at Casa da Música in Porto, and has been recorded live on the Portuguese Broadcast Company RDP/Antena 2, the Czech Republic and the Estonian national broadcast companies, and the French Television Channel MEZZO. 

Ludovice Ensemble's first CD with an exquisite selection of French Baroque Cantatas recorded for Ramée/Outhere received a warm welcome from the general public and the specialized press, being nominated to the ICMA (International Classical Music Awards) in 2013. Their second CD is devoted to the brothers Graun sonatas for flute and harpsichord, recorded for the British label Veterum Musica, and its third CD appeared in 2023: a double album of Portuguese Baroque chamber music composed by members of the Avondano family, for MPMP. 

The Ludovice Ensemble celebrated its 10th anniversary with a concert at the CCB, where it also presented an opera by F. Caccini in collaboration with the Belgian Huelgas Ensemble/Paul Van Nevel and two concerts directed by the famous Italian violinist Enrico Onofri. Their most recent work includes the presentation at the CCB of Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme by Moliére/Lully, the monumental Vespers of Our Lady of 1610 by Monteverdi, the oratory Cain ovvero il primo omicidio by Scarlatti, and the semi-opera Timon of Athens by Purcell, in a production by the renowned Teatro Praga. The operas Idylle sur la paix by Lully and Les Arts Florissants by Charpentier and an original program of Jewish-Sephardic baroque music were brought to the Gulbenkian Foundation's Grand Auditorium.

They recently took their innovative version of Vivaldi's 4 Seasons to the Coliseu do Porto and the CCB. In 2024, Ludovice Ensemble returns to Spain for more concerts in Madrid and the Catalan Pyrenees, makes his debut at the Sintra Festival, returns to the Guimarães Sacred Music Festival and the Mafra Organ Festival, and presents several other concerts in Faro, Vila do Conde and Fátima.
